This is to Carlkr... but the general solutions could work for anyone... oh and please forgive the rambling or disorganized thoughts but I am Dyslexic so you'll have to forgive me... it's not my forte

No idea why I put baiting... again it's the Dyslexia

  • Thanks for you insights. Well thought out and should be helpful to people struggling with this problem. Someday I hope to get to where you are.

  • I'm glad I could help... I'm not sure how far along I am... I think I may have just convinced myself that it's not based on stress and so it's translated into something else

    Anyway, I'm happy it helped

  • that was a complete waste of time..no offence dude,u seem like a great guy..but my nails are fucked and that was the worst advise sorry..take care..no offence dude

  • It was partly advice but it's was more of an analysis... Nail biting, for most people, is a reaction to stress... What I was saying is you have to find what the stress is and try and resolve it... that or try and find a new outlet for it...

That is just a outward view, some of the suggestions were things that I have known to work but it's different for most... And though I won't argue an opinion but I really doubt it's the worst... there's some really bad advice out there....

  • @DsaiTheWhite my nails are short, red, and i also bite the skin around it blahhhh lol

  • omgsh i hates eeing them long >.<

  • It may not be stress, I think I said that... If not sorry... but the point is it's a response to something and if it's bothering you the things I listened should work... there is a reason you link nail biting to whatever it is you do... it may just be thinking but it still might be stress, some people don't even realize they are stressed when they are... as odd as that sounds...

  • I don't think it's stress. It's more boredom or concentration time when i'm thinking of something and biting my nails is just an automatic response to thinking. Like sucking on the end of a pen when your writing something. Just about every kid in high school did that at one point.

  • wow..u are amazing..u just typed what i always though about my fuckin stupid nails..they dont freak me out..other ppl think they are gross though..blah..i'm frustrated! thankyou though x

  • They are similar to Drug addiction in more then one way. they are, after all it's a means to escape a current reality as drugs are, through it's less harmful and impacting then drugs...

The relapse is probably due to the an insufficient means to deal with the stresser... I would suggest finding and outlet not bound by negative consequences

But that would depend on the amount of stress you have and how you deal with it... I paint, write among other things... and yet I still need to bite nails
