Winstrup Olesen was the tenor-sax in the Erik Tuxen Band. When Tuxen left for the Danish Broadcast in june 1936, Olesen became a bandleader himself. He made his first recordings in autumn 1936 for Polyphon then later for Tono, also together with Valaida Snow, and for Odeon he made a few recordings. From 1959 to his death in 2000, he lived in the States.
