I bought a JiffyGarden kit at Wal-Mart. I originally bought it as a diversion from my normal life behind the computer screen. You know, get back to nature.

That didn't last long. I thought it would be pretty cool to do some time-lapse photos. I took a frame at 3-minute intervals, which comes to about 1.5 hours per second of video.

From left to right, we have congo watermelons, patio tomatoes, cayenne peppers and "Better Boy" tomatoes.

I hope to keep updating this, and eventually add a soundtrack.

If anyone knows of any good free (preferably open source) programs for converting a series of JPEGs to a video, please leave a comment. Right now, I am using a small program called jpegtoavi, and then using WME to shrink it to a reasonable size.

  • Mr. 14:

I apologize that this video and the attempt at a mildly-humorous title did not meet your satisfaction.

My goal is to please everyone on the Internet. Since you feel this video did not meet YouTube's stringent quality criteria, I have enclosed a 110% refund.

If you were expecting information on agro-therapy for ADHD, perhaps it is a worthy research topic. Post your findings with your other fine videos, or at least enjoy the traffic increase from linking to my pointless vid.

  • cool. how did you do this and what is ADHD?

  • Seeing as I never got around to answering this, I had a web cam on a portable computer, and I used the "Timershot" Powertoy for Windows XP to take a picture every 3 minutes. I used another program to convert the JPEGs into one big AVI at 30 frames/sec (I think), and then used another program to reencode and optimize the humongous file.

  • I'm wondering, what kind of paper is the dirt in?

Where did you get it from?

  • try pinnacle for free off the net. It will provide the desired effect.

  • Great video! Love it !

Not sure if you are still looking for a great free program to make photos into videos etc. but Google Pinnacle videospin 2.0. I did a video with pics, and also added video clips, and chose my own music to create one video. I have one example of using Pinnacle Videospin on Youtube called "Holiday Express 2009" - (it's not a very good vid becuz I was in a hurry) but it gives you an idea. It's easy to use and FREE (my favorite price)

  • Why did you use ice?
