Reverse Gliding Lunge (Right Leg) - 30sec.
Rest - 30sec.

Kettlebell Goblet Squats - 30sec.
Kettlebell Swings - 30sec.
Rest - 30sec.

SB Knee Tuck/Push-Ups - 30sec.
SB Hip Bridge/Leg Curl - 30sec.
Rest - 30sec.

Perform 3-6 rounds of each couplet of exercises...here we go baby!

  • @phippsy51 which study,theres only a handful of decent studies on the subject.900% is meaningless unless you know what youre comparing,is ist equal amounts of time spent doing the intervals versus steady state,is it equal calorie expenditure on each protocol

  • the 900% more calories burned is actually based off a study done on the EPOC effect of this kind of training. this type of workout doesnt necessarily burn more calories DURING the workout, but burn far more calories in the 24 hour window post workout. thats where the huge difference in calorie expenditure shows.

    Totallyshamanistic, you're right about pushing with intensity. This, however, is not training utilizing Tabata intervals.

    The Tabata Protocol is as follows:

    5 minutes of warm-up

    8 intervals of 20 seconds all-out intensity exercise followed by 10 seconds of rest

    2 minutes cool-down.

    And good luck with that if you decide to try it! It KILLS Olympic athletes!

  • your suspicion is warranted because josh fails to mention this exercise methods driving force: intensity.

    this method is called the "tabata protocol". it is based around two principles: interval training (not continuous cardio) stimulates fat-burning metabolism more efficiently, and each interval needs to be treated as a life or death situation -- really intense!!! tmuscle has a good article, google tabata method, or alwyn talks about tabata in a youtube vid. good luck.

  • Is metabolic training a timed event or is it rep oriented OR either or? I've seen different versions of this and am thinking of doing this type of training. I'm also a PTA student and have a rudimentary understanding of the basics involved.

    When you claim 900% more calories burned, I get suspicious. Where was this study done? By whom? & has it been replicated anywhere else?
