I loved Man's Search for Meaning, got me through some bad times. Just had to read what he had gone through and to still have such a positive view on life, really put things in perspective. Also found it was very informative in terms of what went on in those camps, as to me at least he seemed to have tried to be objective. But Im not an expert and Im sure someone will disagree :-)
@paisleyyama congratulations me too. It is difficult to explain to another like describing colour to a bllind man.I think those with big ego's believe in humanism. Some men are not naturally inclined to seek God because
God dethrones them. They like to think they are in charge if only in a small way and answer to no one and nothing*smile* I think personally they are in for a nice surprise.
@theWHYing I don`t think all ppl believe b/c they need faith in something. I can only speak for myself & what I`ve heard some others claim, but for myself I had no interest in God but a convincing experience made me believe in God. So I believe simply because I believe, not out of a need or even a desire to believe. I believe in a very factual sense like if I believe the chair I am sitting on is actually a chair.
Faith in G-d is irrelevant, and can be a hinderance to leading a moral life. It is naive to believe that a G-d is required to explain the creation of life. Meaning comes from human experience. Humanism has existed for as long as religion, and is a much better way of explaining morality and meaning.
This is true and powerful. Corrie Ten Boom was a "camp" survivor who maintained a powerful faith. Job suffered but understood that he could not put the mane on a horse's back. Creation has a Divine order. It is naive to believe that a Big Bang created life. We are not the ultimate authority. God had a purpose for bringing us into existence. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.:Proverbs 3: 5, 6
Ofcourse you would need an unconditional love to god to understand that there is no exact way that god helps humanity (usualy some individuals). But why then have the belief in the first place - Just because you need faith in something? It is just as if you were solving equation 1=x + 0 (the god is in the 0) .
