Rudolf Barshai plays Ivan Khandoshkin's viola concerto and conducts the Moscow Chamber Orchestra in this first recording of the concerto. The concerto was written in 1801.

  • Am I alone in hearing Tchaikovsky, who was born 39 years later, here? It sounds the world like something he could have written. Could he be acquainted with this work?

  • @sorryusernametaken66 Doubtful - this work remained in manuscript until it was published for the first time in 1947 in the former USSR.
