One suggestion, stock up on spices. Things like salt, pepper, sage, tyme, dill, cinnamon. Stuff like that helps fight taste fatigue. and store what you eat, eat what you store so it is a good idea to stock up on the family favorite recipes. If you would like some more suggestions, let me know.

@midniterose58 It is cool that you are starting. Just add a little at a time when what you buy is on sale, so it is not so overwhelming.

for camping stuff. i know it sounds silly but this is how i make my list. i imagine waking up in the tent at the campsite. and imagine everything id do throughout the day from waking to sleep. so u wake up.. restroom/ personal hygeine.. breakfast. etc..

Add some dehydrated meals for the short term in case things get extreme and you need to bug out. Create a 72 hr crisis bag. If your house burns down or you have to get out of dodge quickly, you need to prepare for that scenario as well. One other suggestion...may want to have the stuff on hand in case you need to cache any of your food preps (i.e. PVC pipe, glue caps, etc)...it would be a shame to spend money and time on preps and not be able to use them. What about a sustainable water plan?

Very nice! It might be a good idea if you store smaller amounts of ingredients in Mylar bags all in 1 bucket so you can open 1 bucket at a time and use different ingredients in it instead of having single bulk items per each bucket. When it comes down to it, you don't want to open a bucket of rice to use a little rice and then have to open a bulk bucket of beans too. Have small bag of beans and small bag of rice in same bucket, and other ingredients too in same bucket.

i think with the new law you can only have 1.5 hams in your home at a time. unless a holiday weekend is coming then you can have 2 3/4 hams in stock. or 1 weeks of sandwichs @ 2 per person per family lol

Thanks for sharing! Nice job.

Tip for cheapskate prepper: Keep 2 empty 18 gallon or 30 gallon bins. In an emergency, toss everything from your pantry into the bins.

Very nice! Don't forget that you can expedite your water storage by using empty juice and 2 liter soda bottles. You Tube has how-to vids on bleaching and rotating them. Other than that, I think your preps are coming along at a pretty fast clip.

I couldn't help but notice you have a bucket labeled with vitamins and meds. You may already know it but, please note that vitamins can become toxin if they are too old. Just be sure you rotate these items as well.
Nice preps so far

Perhaps you might also want to store some hardware/camping supplies as well. Items like small propane cylinders which can be used for camp stoves for cooking, heaters, lanterns etc. Batteries of various sizes for radios, flashlights and walkie-talkies etc. A few portable solar panels might also be a good idea. I secured a whole box full of 12v solar panels for free that a local VW dealer was throwing away. A 12v D/C to 120v A/C power inverter to run appliances from solar panels or car battery.
