On any given day, it seems there's something exciting going on at NC State's Brickyard.

Earth Day April 22 proved to be no different, as the landmark was the site for what student organizers hope will become a weekly series of Farmer's Market events sales that will bring a variety of North Carolina-grown foods and products to students, faculty and staff members headed through Central Campus.

"What makes this market different from others is the educational aspect," senior extension education major Eric Ballard said. "Were trying to promote the importance of supporting your local agriculture background."

Vendors from the Raleigh Farmer's Market, located near NC State's Centennial Campus, joined others from Durham and Chapel Hill on the Brickyard to peddle produce, seafood, and even a number of handmade items.

"Weve had a real good day everything has sold really well," vendor Helen Wise said. "Were happy to be able to be a part of it."

The Farmer's Market is organized by members of NC State student government, and beginning this fall, participants plan to hold weekly events every Wednesday from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
