On April 14, 2011, more than a dozen volunteers from Hampton Hotels' Save-A-Landmark program helped preserve the John Dickinson Plantation during National Volunteer Week. Team members from local Hampton hotels refurbished an 18th-century living quarters exhibit, polished original brass and silver, oiled the mansion's antique furniture, painted visitors' benches and picnic tables and landscaped the gardens. In all, Hampton Hotels donated $10,000 in support of the day's projects and future preservation needs.
It was an awesome experience working with my colleagues at the John Dickenson Plantation in Dover for Hampton's Save-A-Landmark Program. We are hoping that they bring it back to Delaware.
