FreeBSD install (simple mode)

A tutorial of installing freeBSD 8.1 under VMware workstation. If you want you can instead install it on a "hardware non emulation" but remember that your data on disk will be deleted. In VMware workstation you do not risk this since the installation is emulated in VMware workstation and the HDD is a virtual file on disk instead.

made it further now. would seem i needed more space. i do not want to install all the ports and src files, so now it is a case of seeing how small i can get as i only intend to run as an NFS with ZFS. Just found out about the refuse file so will start there.

I may have bitten off more than i can chew as am new to freebsd.

@77expat77 Hello sorry for my late reply, according to distrubition list (what type of install) the Minimal contains only the core of FreeBSD without documentation or source codes. I prefeer developer which contains everything except the games and X. // best regards!

I wish it was this fricking easy for me. Mine just keeps giving me an error during installation. Maybe I just need to get a CD instead of using a flash drive.

striaght forward and to the point. recently did this myself. Found this video after i did it. But after this i tried to install some packages, but an error mounting the iso is used to install. ended up burning it to cd using it from there. Now i am stuck on how to 'buildworld'. think i was successful in CVSup. but cannot seem to get further. I look forward to the next video.
