Awa odori is in Tokushima, NOT Kagawa!!! 'Awa kingdom' = feudal province of Tokushima.

Nobody said it was in Kagawa.

So, this is an Awa Odori festival that happens in Kanagawa? I knew that there were groups from outside Tokushima who perform this style, but I didn't know that there were any Awa Odori festivals besides the big one in Tokushima. I lived there for a few years. Fantastic party!

@nanogibbon Besides this one in Yamato, Kanagawa, there are quite a few Awa Odori festivals in the Tokyo area. They are all children of the one in Tokushima. I have videos for most of them such as in Koenji (largest outside Tokushima), Minami-Koshigaya (Saitama), Kita-Urawa, Nakamurabashi, Mitaka, Kagurazaka, Kitamachi, and Inagi. Search for "awa odori" plus any of these place names and you'll find more vids.

It's the Bubble Dance! There were some demonstrators performing this outside of Kyoto Station that let us try to dance with them, so fun!

"Awa" is this case does not mean bubble. It is the old place name for Tokushima in Shikoku where the dance originated. The kanji characters are different for "bubble."
