Rockaby is a short, one woman play by Samuel Beckett. It was written in 1980, in English, at the request of Daniel Labeille who produced it on behalf of Programs in the Arts, State University of New York, for a festival and symposium in commemoration of Beckett's 75th birthday. The play premiered on April 8, 1981 at the State University of New York at Buffalo, starring Billie Whitelaw and directed by Alan Schneider. A documentary film, Rockaby, by D. A. Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus records the rehearsal process and the first performance. This production went on to be performed at the Annex at La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, and, in December 1982, at the Cottesloe, Royal National Theatre, London. --Wikipedia
I do not own the copyright to this video, but I have uploaded it here so that a broad and interested audience may first be introduced to the works of Samuel Beckett. If the owner of the copyright should wish it to be taken day, they need only say the word.
However, if you enjoyed this video or any of the others I've uploaded from this collection, please consider buying the DVDs yourself (a must have for any fan of Beckett's work) at http://www.beckettonfilm.com/ .
Spectacular. The best of the 2000-2001 series of the filmed collection of Beckett's plays.

o grande dramarturgo do seculo XX, a repetição é a grande marca do poder, a música, a melodia representada atraves das palavras, a tristeza, a vontade, desejos e solidão, a vontade de não viver marca esse desejo obsecado, os acontecimentose a serteza de que se pode sentir, nas palavras, a força pela força da cadeira de balanço, o vazio da dança do bailado do sentimento. the power of repetition; the music of the words, the loneliness, the longing to not live; the fact that one can feel, in the words, the rocking-chair. the humanity, void of valse sentiment.

I hate this sooooo much. Have to analyse it for drama. It is torture watching it over and over again. I dont understand how people actually enjoy this. Maybe I just dont get it.
