  • Some of the steps are Cavan Reel Traditional.

  • Hi gerard butler here, whats the name of this set, its mighty...

  • Tom King of the Tara Ceili Band has the information on the set. Yes it was mighty where would you find any better these dancers where naturals.

  • I'm fascinated by this dance and I'm lucky to have the video already downloaded. Question: Is the figure of the two top gents (1:50 - 1:52)- they beat their own left feet- known to anybody?

  • To Cuchullain may be you will notice the first top gent is Tom King Sean Nos dancers he

also uses this slap in his Sean Nos dance.Show boating was not restricted to solo dances.

  • Improvisation is the name of the game! Although sets may be written down for posterity, the individuality of styles that particular dancers bring to a set cannot be.

  • Your coments on the set are very accurate astute obsever

  • well, after much stamping and flailing about I can do the step...well...at least I can sort of do it in place! Couldn't possibly house around yet. But thanks so much for posting this brilliant footage!

  • It's as if someone put the High Cauled Cap, the Connemara and the Williamstown in a blender and set it on high.

  • This is outstanding. I tried to understand this one and gave up early on. It is so complex. The diagonals have me confused. Is any of this a Cavan Reel?

  • Skirts + blouses of days ago.

  • This set was based on the 8 hand reel and several different parts from other set plus a few make-uppy bits thrown in for god luck. Me oul fella Tommy King was da mastermind behind it and is dancing in first tops with his back to you.

  • this is like the 8 hand reel accept it has bits added in and twists in it! :)

  • Sorry, it's me again: This Dance is sooooo grrrrrrr8!

    IMHO:

    Tarbolton Reel: 64 bars

    Longford Collector: 64 bars

    Sailor's Bonnet: 48 bars

Excuse me again: This dance is really great!

  • Yez are all wrong. It's a version of the High Caul Cap done to the Cavan Reel step with the Roscommon Set stuck in the middle to confuse ye all. Or something like that. And Pat says no way!

  • According 2 Comhaltas (Foinn Seisiún 2) the tunes are: Tarbolton/ Longford Collector/ Sailor´s Bonnet

  • "... maybe Pat Murphy will ...."

    No, unfortunately not!

  • Again:

    This video is soooo gr8!!!!
