World War II was horrible, and no place more terrible than the Pacific War. I would like to have sympathy for the Japanese in Tokyo during that devastating B-29 fire raid on March 9, 1945, but my thoughts keep returning to the Bataan Death March. For many Americans AND Filipinos, General Curtis LeMay was paying back for the Bataan murders---100 times over. I pray this slaughter will never happen again, but I fear another mass blood-letting at about 2050. I hope Japan will be WITH us next time.

I am only sorry that The Great Bombing of Tokyo took place 10 years late! If only America had joined the war 10 years earlier, it would have saved millions upon millions of Chinese people from Japs' atrocities and slaughter! So many Chinese women wouldn't have been raped, babies not killed, and that young uncle of mine wouldn't have died in Jap's air raid over Shanghai! General Lemay, thank you -- for helping end the war quickly and for saving thousands of GIs who'd been killed in battle in Japn

義母は東京大空襲の体験者です。

当時、幼かった義母は母と祖母に連れられ下町の炎の中を命からが­ら逃げ回ったそうです。

人の焼けた匂いや焼けた死体の上を歩いた感触は60数年たった今­でもフラッシュバックのように鮮明に覚えているそうです。

一種のトラウマになっているようです。今でもあまり当時の事は話­たがりません。

南京渡洋爆撃にしろ、重慶爆撃にしろ、そしてこの東京大空襲にし­ろ、一般市民に対する無差別攻撃は理由のいかんを問わず、到底許­されるものではありません。

戦争の一番の犠牲になるのは、いつの世も名もない一兵士や一般市­民なのです。合掌。
