Senator Elizabeth Dole, a member of the Senate Banking Committee, tells Newsmax TV she and other Republicans tried to move legislation five years ago to rein in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac but Democrats blocked their efforts and it "infuriates" her to think about how that could have prevented what eventually happened. Also, hear the senator's views on her own re-election bid, media treatment of Sarah Palin, Chuck Schumer's prediction of a Democrat rout and an update on what husband, Bob is doing these days.

  • @klg1956 Bob is a very strong and decent man. Very down to earth... Yes what Elizabeth did for the ARC should be noted indeed... Amazing turn around as well an amazing woman. I FULLY agree with your statement that she should be Treasury Secretary as she has proven she is good with managing large amounts of money... Perhaps id Sarah gets into office she would consider this option. She would be foolish to not consider her for the position...

  • @2222554 She is wonderful. I met her husband at the Reagan Library..he's wonderful too. She is an incredibly savvy businesswoman. Elizabeth has been credited with being one of America's top 10 rated (Motley Fools List) business persons of all time....she took over the American Red Cross which had a huge deficit and turned it around within one year....she needs to be the Treasury Secretary so she can save our country that is going down the tubes. SOS Elizabeth!

  • @klg1956 I miss her greatly... A beautiful woman through and through... Inside and out... Compassionate heart of gold... Wish she could have stayed in the Senate...

  • They had to get rid of you Elizabeth, you know what you are talking about. Also, in 2003, you highlighted how Fannie and Freddie were a train wreck waiting to happen, and that got too close for comfort with the Democrats so they had to throw everything they had against you. I just wonder why the Republican machine didn't respond in kind to take care of your seat. Must have been the Republicans In Name Only (John McCain) didn't like what you were saying too.
