In Zambia, residents are poised to vote in presidential and local elections on Tuesday. Incumbent President Ruiah Banda weathered an early constitutional challenge to his bid for a second term. This election is a rematch of the 2008 race between Mr. Banda and Michael Sata. Over 5 million people are registered to vote in Tuesday's election. VOA's Paul Sisco reports
Congratulations to both Rupiah Banda for being man enough to step down after 20 years at his age of 74. And also to Michael Sata at 74 not to have given up, but focused and persisted. So it is not the years or age that determines conscience. I am glad for our elders to have come to a wise realisation. Kudos to Justice Irene Mambilima, Chair of the ECZ for not shying away, not being intimidated and by doing the right thing. She will go down in history.
