On Thursday, August 13, 2009, former Memphis Mayor Willie Herenton picked up a petition to run in the October special election for mayor created by his own resignation the previous month. Needless to say, Herenton was the talk of the town after he left the Shelby County Election Commission's office.
On Friday, August 14, 2009, WDIA's Program Director and morning mainstay Bobby O'Jay opined about the former mayor's move, and Herenton didn't take it too well.
Bits and pieces of the conversation have been placed on the web, but by request, I am posting the ENTIRE chain of events to put everything into proper context.
God knows I've disagreed with both Willie AND Bobby through the years, but Bobby is right this time.
