Hacking up a one gallon tea jug (filled with water) with a Cold Steel brand Viking Sword. As a disclaimer I don't have that much experience using swords, but this is a pretty nice easy to swing blade. Cold steel themselves have a far more impressive test video, cutting all kinds of things, this is just something I made for the heck of it...

For being a mass produced blade, this is very functional and a good quality for the price. It looks nice too up close. I would highly recommend this (or other functional swords) over those lame "display only" pieces of junk that some companies sell. Captured 23 AUG 2010, in Texas.

  • very nice sword cutting session. I hear some complaints on this sword that the handel is like a rectangle. Is that true?

  • @weloveanimetoo - In my experience swinging it around the handle is acceptable, and the cross section is probably like a rounded rectangle, it is not as comfortable as some other swords I have but it's not too bad. It's leather wrapped and the stitching runs along the edge of one side which makes it slightly uncomfortable to grip in one way but if that stitching side is against your palm it's OK.

  • @shadeth I've wielded a replicate Viking sword as well in the past, and frankly the hilts are awkward to grip around and hold in your hand comfortably. But then again, they are meant to be wielded one-handed only, and I believe the rectangular shaped hilt aids in maintaining a firmer grip whilst striking. Disagree?

  • Nice vid! Thanks for sharing :D

  • That looks so sharp!!! Awesome. I've been pondering about buying a sword for a couple of months now. Seeing people do tests like this, makes me want one even more!

  • oh nice so it really does slice things I was expecting it to be a scam but it looks like it works!
