Finally someone hu talks sum sense around here. Kids are the ONLY people hu can in most places be legally assaulted. People are stupid when they talk about parents rights, shouldnt we be giving children the same rights as blacks, white, men, women, gays, straights, old people and even DOGS to be in a safe environment, free from mental and physical pain

Kids dont respect people for hitting them [and i speak as one]we respect people for kindness, dicipline[not spanking, there ARE other ways] and their sense of justice. If you hit me, i'll hit you, because even if i dont have the right to be safe and happy, i'll call it self defense anyway, because all adults have the right to do so.

Now hitting a baby is so totally unnecesary and wrong! They are too young to even kow why u hit them!

Really now people?
I just turned 18.....I gotten a few whoopings by my parents either by belt or by the hand....and I noticed as I grew up (generally speaking) the kids that never gotten beatings would talk back to their parents or act up verbally or physically and that was my way of learning from right and wrong as a "life lesson".
Now I believe there is "Too much spanking" because I've met abusive parents.....but I believe it should be involved in a part of discipline.

What he is talking about is an official limit. Right now there isn't one, so it is a case by case basis. For example, two cases of paddling where there was extensive bruising. One judge has the parents charged and the case is tried, convicted of child abuse. The other judge in a different town has the case dismissed as "the unfortunate result of a good paddling."
Example 2, all the school paddlings with extensive bruising where nothing is done, but if a parent did it, cps would be there.

children can be taught discipline without ever been hit it is possible it drives me mad when think spanking is the only way a child with learn not misbehave be polite good mannered my parents taught me to have table manners and behave without slapping once or even threaten to do so I have mild learning difficulties and aspergers my parents had patience kindness helped me with my struggled with social skills and I was hyperactive very emotional they both died now I respect them not hitting me

I agree. No children of any age should be hit, and hitting a baby is OUTRAGEOUS! I can't believe that there are actually still some parenting books being sold that recommend whipping babies as young as 6 months old. It's disgusting.

All corporal punishment of children should be banned. It's worse for babies of course, which is what this law is about. But any age child should be legally protected from being hit, slapped, spanked, made to kneel on gravel or rice, pinched, ears or hair pulled, hot-sauced, and all the other painful acts adults routinely inflict on vulnerable children. Stop hanging onto old myths about spanking! It's been proven with mountains of research to be risky and harmful.

Of course BAN spanking!
i think it should be made illegal completely but no repricussions unless it turns into actually serious abuse.

I agree.
I think preventing abuse is great, but this is not the way to do it. We already have laws that punish parents who abuse children and this proposal is neither necessary nor narrowly tailored to reach the specific conduct it aims to eliminate.
We have bigger more important issues to worry about these days. If our elected officials really want to do something for children,I suggested they focus on topics like education funding or foster care reform. Thanks for watching my clips! -Paul
