Shocked and insulted that Joe would kiss her out of the blue without her approval, Demi pulled away from him in a flash and stood up quickly from the couch leaving him bewildered. She stepped back a few more feet and said, "You never said that." Joe chuckled and rubbed his head. "I didn't have to say it," he replied. "I implied it enough." Demi stepped back once again as he stood up. "Stay over there, Joe." She warned, to which he threw his hands out in distress. "Why?"
"Because you have the wrong idea!"
Joe shook his head. "I don't think so."
"Well, you should...don't come any closer!" Demi yelled as Joe started to advance towards her.
He stopped walking. "Listen, Demi. I know that the past few months haven't been the best between me and you. And I know that you're dating my brother. But I can't take this any longer, Demi. Seeing you with him is absolute torture for me. And the fact that he's doing a better job than I did just...I wanna make it up."
"Make it up?" Demi replied. "You had all of those chances to make it up months ago. I'm sorry, Joe."
Joe stood there with a look of disappointment on his face. "Demi, please. Let me make it up to you." Then came the signature Jonas pout that she saw Nick do every now and then as well. He took a step forward, and his hazel eyes lit up even more. Demi shook her head. "Nuh-uh. Don't make that face." she said.
"Why? Is it working?" Joe asked. Demi shook her head. "Nope. Besides....Nick does it better."
"...I soppose he does everything better." Joe said. Just then, Joe's door opened and his younger brother Nick walked through it. He closed the door behind him with a look of anger. "Hello, Joe. Demi...thought you were here." Nick said, not looking at either of them.
:"Oh, hello, brother." Joe replied and waved. Demi cut a glance at Joe before turning back to her boyfriend. "Nick, what are you doing here?" She asked.
"Well..." Nick started. "I picked up the card from those flowers that were sent to you and saw the handwriting. After seeing that none of the 'I's on it were dotted, I knew that Joe sent them to you."
Joe shrugged. "Well, you know; a lotta people still don't dot their eyes, so how are you sure it was me?"
"Dude, you wrote it with your favorite blue pen." Nick retorted and Joe sunk back down.
"Why'd you send her the flowers? You still have feelings for her, or something?" Joe's brother asked.
"Yes." Joe replied and Nick glared at him. "No, you don't." He began advancing towards Joe.
"Yes I do!" Joe repeated himself, only louder.
"No, you don't!"
"Yes, I do!"
As soon as the brothers began to lunge at each other, Demi stepped between them and pushed them back.
"Stop it!" She yelled. Joe and Nick stopped yelling and only gave each other dirty looks. Demi looked at Joe, then Nick and said, "If you're both gonna keep fighting like children over me, then how about I don't have anything to do with either of you!?"
"I still won't give up!" Joe said.
"Neither will I." Nick added.
Demi's face dropped. "Guys..come on. You don't want me to choose, do you?"
"If that's the only way Joe will leave you alone..then fine." Nick said.
"We'll meet at the beach around seven. Settle this once and for all." Joe added. Demi looked at both of them in disbelief.
