How to Make Your Sony 7.1 Receiver Support 3D Blu-Ray

I have a Sony STR-DH810, and my father owns a Sony STR-DH710. I figured if either of us ever upgraded to 3D Blu-Ray, we'd have to toss the recievers out. Well, not anymore, as Sony has upgraded BOTH of the recievers (and probably a few others as well) to be fully 3D Blu-Ray compliant.

But unlike an HDTV, the receiver has no USB or Ethernet connection, and no internal Wi-Fi, so how does the new Firmware get on the Reciever? You have to play a CD through it!

@Xz1pb pro logic 2 has to be enabled but it's pretty easy to do.

@du3ce play the next track on the cd. If it's still not working you're doing something very wrong.

1. It's coming out at 48khz instead of 44.1.

2. Your receiver has different versions than I said were compatible. Check Sony esupport.

3. Not TV optical connection.

My DH810 is a POS. It will display video and audio for about 5 minutes and then it just "loses signal" and won't come back to life. It's past my return to Best Buy period, so I guess I'm screwed.

@bkeith101 go sony e-support and request a repair. It should be free as long as you have the reciept or invoice.

i just did this to my STR-DH710 using an optoma HD66 with an optoma 3DXL converter box hooked up to a PS3 and a TiVo HD... everything works great... audio and video both over HDMI and everything syncs up perfect.

I tried upgrading the firmware with no luck, it keeps saying update play disc even though i play the damn thing on my cd player, Its connected thru digital output, i have no clue why its not updating.

DVD player? People still have those? I'll have to see if I have one in storage...
