Starting from the Stratford Mountain House and climbing to the skifield carpark, this event hosted by the Taranaki Car Club is one of the most fantastic hillclimbs in New Zealand. A large turnout of cars and the weather disintegrating meant the the day was a little disappointing, especially as the road got very slippery and there were a few spectacular "offs". Three cars before this run the timing gear blew a fuse and so given the state of the track, the fact that it was untimed and that a few other competitors were going home with bent cars, I left the traction control on and went out to enjoy myself...but preserve the car!
