Harnoncourt/Ponnelle production of Monteverdi's l'ORFEO. One of the greatest operas ever composed. Here: Toccata, Ritornelo, and Prologue. Sings Trudeliese Schmidt as "La Musica"

  • What a wonderful version!

  • Thank you so much for sharing this treasure with us; now we can compare with the other performances on YouTube. Only Jordi Savall includes the drum flourishes; did he add them? Harnoncourt's direction is always more lively and interesting in this music, and I prefer the singing here as well.

  • I love it!!!

  • Thank you for this!

  • Jean-Pierre Ponnell was very insightful.

  • Fantastic, thanks!

  • It is nice seeing Ms. Schmidt when she isn't dressed as a man. She's great in Strauss pants roles, but this is lovely.

  • It has one flaw: it stops too soon. Or is there a part 2?

  • Very great :)

  • hopefully you all noticed the lutenist is playing "left-handed." His lute was made to point to the right instead of the left.
