Solo climbing at the Eiger Westflank on August 17, 2009, starting from Station Eigergletscher (2320 m). Fantastic conditions in the route. Beautiful views of the Berner Oberland mountain range and great views down to Kleine Scheidegg (2061 m) and into the Eiger North Face. Accidentially went into the extension of the Westgratpfeiler from the Eiger North Face into the westflank. It is easyy to loose orientation there although it looks pretty straightforward from the foot of the mountain. Visit of the Eiger Rotstock summit (2663 m) on the way back down.

Music: Perfect Symmetry from the album Perfect Symmetry by Keane.

  • Conditions look a little easier than when I tried this route in November. It was lightly snowing but the route was completely covered in verglas.

  • The conditions were excellent on that day. Just a little bit warm even above 3000 m.
