Ronnie welcomes renowned Egyptian icon, physician, scholar, author and leading feminist activist Dr. Nawal El Saadawi of The Sisterhood is Global Institute. Dr. El Saadawi has written many books on the subject of women in Islam, paying particular attention to the practice of female genital mutilation in her society. She is one of the most widely translated contemporary Egyptian writers, with her work available in twelve languages, and she was recently named one of the top 100 influential women by the "Guardian" newspaper in England. They discuss the difficulties faced by women in Islamic governments and the revolutions that have been sweeping North Africa and the Middle East.
