Músicos de Curitiba resolveram "estragar" suas canções preferidas
Beatles versão reggae? Queens of the Stone Age com sopros? Motörhead caipira? Pennywise em ska?
É isso mesmo. Se você está procurando por uma banda que apresente alguns dos maiores clássicos do rock, nas suas mais variadas vertentes, e que "arrisque" versões, digamos, pouco ortodoxas, pode parar: a big band Duo & Famiglia está aí pra balançar as cabeleiras - e remexer os esqueletos.
Composto por músicos que provém de escolas tão distintas como o erudito e o metal porrada, o grupo, inicialmente idealizado por André Nisgoski (voz, violão e gaita) e Danilo Cardoso (guitarra e backings), optou por sair da mesmice que impera o clichê do cover ao apostar em versões, a princípio inusitadas, para desde os clássicos do rei Elvis até os petardos do malvadão Slayer. E o resultado é surpreendente - e divertidíssimo. Afinal, se deparar com "Master of Puppets" em uma versão reggae - com direito a bongôs e nipe de sopros -, não é toda noite que se vê.
Tudo começou com o duo André e Danilo - a dupla fazendo suas apresentações pela noite curitibana. E os agregados, aos poucos, foram se juntando para encorpar o som, diminuir o cachê, e acabar com as cervejas. Muitas vezes na base do improviso. O primeiro parasita foi o trompetista Eduardo Sabatke, seguido pelo percussionista Faeco. Depois, sabe-se lá quem veio antes: André Jeza no baixo e backings e Oliver Miranda no saxofone e acordeão. Ademais, Fred Duba na bateria e, finalmente, Thiago Trosso no trombone e backings. A essas alturas, o que era levado na base de jams ao vivo, já começara a ganhar mais atenção, e arranjos e (des)construções foram sendo estudados e aplicados ao repertório. E aí, rapaz...
Bom, e aí é que o resultado é uma espécie de Blues Brothers Band de Dublin tocando hardcore. Sacou?

That's right. If you're looking for a band to deliver some of the biggest rock n' roll classics reviewed in, say, no such orthodox ways, then you can stop searching: the Duo & Famiglia big band has come to make you bang your head - and shake your bones.
Started by musicians whose backgrounds range from classic to brazilian music to metal, the band decided to stray away from your every night cover rock band to revisit hits from the king Elvis to the unholy barks of Slayer. And the result is astonishingly fun. After all, where else could you listen to a reggae version of "Master of Puppets", including both percussion and brass sections?
It all started with André Nisgoski (lead vocals, acoustic guitar and harmonica) and Danilo Cardozo (semi-acoustic guitar e backing vocals) entertaining the nights of Curitiba, Brazil, as a rock cover duo. And, one by one, the rest of the family got their spot to thick the sound, thin the payings, and spill the beer. The first parasite to suck its share was Eduardo Sabatke on the trumpet, followed by percussionist Faeco. Then, God only knows who came right over: André Jeza on bass and backing vocals and Oliver Miranda on the sax and accordion. Later on, Fred Duba took over the drums and Thiago Trosso filled in on the trombone and backing vocals. And what once began as a monster jam, was now getting new arrangements and a whole set of songs was being studied and rehearsed over and over. Well...
Think the Blues Brother's Band, only from Dublin, and playing hardcore. Got the picture?
