Lawmate PV1000 with Sony HQ1 camera quality test in Madrid, Spain.

This records the journey from San Agustin Del Guadalix to La Moraleja in Alcobendas and demonstrates the recording capabilities of the hardware and how it copes with dramatic changes in light conditions and the stability of the recording in a harsh environment.

  • Does the Sony HQ1 work with the Lawmate PV700?

  • @FlashGameReviews I don't have a PV700 but if it works the same as the PV1000 then the HQ1 will work with it just fine. As far as I know, all the PV range have the same connections so the connections on the 700 should be the same as the 1000 and I use an HQ1 and an HQ2 with my PV-1000 without any problems.

  • I'm looking for more information about this recorder. High motion record

quality looks very good. Could you please tell me the exact file size in bytes

of one of your typical riding vids of a known length?

    E.g. 20 minute video, 1200000 Kbytes..

I'm trying to get an idea of average bitrate for a high motion vid.

  • @daemn42 The unit automatically breaks the files up in to 1Gb chunks, approximately 1041968Kb per file and each file lasts an average of 21 minutes although this depends on the amount of contrast and colour you are recording.

Video's recorded at night, are predominantly dark, and so they encode much better and you will get 25 minutes or more for each 1gb file.

In high contrast daytime conditions with lots of colour information, the encoding will reach the 1gb limit in less than 20 minutes.

  • @daemn42 When the max file size is reached, it just creates a new file and keeps recording automatically, however when editing files together you will notice there are 3 or 4 frames missing at the point where it switches to a new file.

Recording to the built in 60Gb HD is IMPOSSIBLE in a harsh operating environment, however using a 16Gb SD card it's as solid as a rock no matter how rough it gets and you can copy the contents of the SD to the HD when you need to free up SD space.

  • I have the dvr 1000 the unit record fine but when i put the video on my computer the video comes out cutup like is in 5 frames per sec, i'm using windows xp media player . any help I will appreciated thank you.

  • Try VLC Player instead, that's what I use and it plays all the video's just fine. I tried posting the link for it here but the fascists at YouTube seem to be blocking the link because it won't let me submit the post when I put the link it in, just google for VideoLan d o t org or VLC Player and you should find it.

  • The recorder is ok, but its the camera that isnt that good, it bleeds alot and thats also due to "only" 9000 kbit recording.. anyways thats most thats out there for dvr,s.

  • @hugboxx Hi, I have around 3 months worth of footage of riding all over spain, including a visit to the MotoGP in Valencia, which because of work I have not had the time to edit and upload :-(

I will find the time to get some more stuff uploaded soon.

  • Hey man, did you ever upload any more videos with the lawmate? I'd be interested in seeing some more footage :-)
