@FrenYaAllSky Actually, Madara was kicked out of the clan long ago. Itachi was to kill the clan to prevent an Uchiha uprising. It was a plan by the heads of the Hidden Leaf Village as Itachi was a double agent. Tobi just "happened" to arrive at the same time. Itachi couldn't kill Sasuke, so he made himself the "bad guy" so Sasuke could seek revenge and reclaim and restore the former pride of the Uchiha clan. Itachi made himself a martyr to prevent a war.
