The annual softball game between the Jefferson County police and fire departments was held at Kiwanis Park on Saturday. The teams were comprised of officers and firefighters from across the county. Money raised by sponsors, food sales and donations are going toward care packages for the soldiers of Madison's Alpha Troop in Iraq. People who want to donate to the troops can stop in at the Clifty 6 fire station, Curves For Women, Bender Lumber Co., Town & Country Florist or City Hall. Items being accepted are snacks, magazines, Playstation 2 games and books. Money donations can be given at any River Valley Financial Bank location for the "Volunteer Fire Co. No. 6 Support Our Troops Fund." The game raised about $1,300. The firefghters won the game 19-9. Each team has won three games over the six years they have played. (Staff video by Ken Ritchie)
