Community to DA Morgenthau: Complete your investigation of the false arrests of gay men

This protest against police harassment is a tragic way to mark gay pride, now only just a week away....

40 years after the Stonewall Rebellion and riots of 1969, another rally is held to demand justice for the dozens of men falsely arrested by NYPD.

On June 13, 2009, community leaders including: Brendan Fay, NYC Councilwoman Rosie Mendez, Stonewall Veteran Yvonne Ritter, Candidate for NYC Council Danny Dromm, NYCLU Representative Matt Faiella, NGLTF Representative Cynde Horne, AVP Local Organizer Jennifer Ramírez, and others addressed a gathering of the LBGTS community in New York's Sheridan Square.

The rally was the most recent demonstration in protest of a pattern of questionable arrests by the NYPD.

Acclaimed journalist Duncan Osborne conducted research and discovered that undercover police agents have been entering New York City bookstores, where the agents posed as gay or bi-curious men. The agents then arguably were profiling real customers and entrapping the customers in a dubious operation to bring prostitution charges against the customers. One man, who had been the victim of the NYPD's controversial operation, is Robert Pinter. Mr. Pinter has been speaking out against the police department's questionable program.
