Giuseppe Verdi: Rigoletto La donna è mobile... Luciano Pavarotti, tenor Metropolitan Opera Gala 25th Anniversary at Lincoln Center New York, September 23, 1991 James Levine
I wish I could sing like Pavarotti even at his worst. I say this because I have read a lot of people about what version is his best (71, 81,91,86, etc). I do not know much about signing, but I always love the way he sings.
Orchestra da una parte e Pavarotti (crescente all'inverosimile!!!)dall'altra....certo non è Bergonzi ma bravo Luciano...un personaggio giusto quello del Duca per lui
Well, he is still good here (and better than most), but compare to 1971 and 1981 and you can hear the change in brightness of his voice, and ease on the high notes. Mind you, good days and bad days are a fact for singers, so this may not have been his best. Phrasing and artistry still excellent and remarkably consistent over the decades, though.
Not his best--seems to be having trouble breathing--legato line just not there but can still summon the strength to ping that high note!

@MattZ2007 Pavarotti's voice was not terribly loud, it carried well due to excellent projection, though.
