The point of the album and they symbol is finding faith in anything, as long as you have it (thus all the different symbols). As a slight contrast, this song is criticizing people who simply believe that believing in God gives them free reign to do whatever they want because they expect to be forgiven later. "All your belief cannot absolve your sin," David is saying just saying you believe in Jesus/God/whatever doesn't make you good: you actually have to act like a good person as well.
