That's pretty cool, man... :-)
Found an old Olivetti not unlike your portable one (in a leatherette carry case no less!) abandoned in our props room ... dig it out ... some of the parts are pretty worn, and the ink a bit dry, but it still worked for banging out a page of random musings! If I ever find it's being thrown away I'm going to salvage it and make some doubly retro gestalt with it and an old 486 laptop whose monitor has died (but still has VGA-out) - another actual "typewriter PC"...

I like a typist that brings a lunch for her boss......

your idea is very nice but it sounds like you type on regular keyboard.
this might give the feel of typewriter but for my it isnt the expected sound.
loved the summary of other ideas also.

@lysdexicuss thanks man. I might convert my #5 or the Hermes 8

the typewriter sound would make the bears very angry because it is so annoying.
If you build it, post it; it sounds super-cool like the Electra-Clerk !

TALL85: these are ALL typewriters. Watch the video again. Each of my Hybrids is an actual typewriter. 4 out of 5 of them use paper & ribbons while still being able to save files in Word or Open Office etc. They are typewriters that are mounted on top of special custom designed boxes that have keyboards inside them. Focus Thy Attention, Pay Attention; all will be revealed upon a second viewing...

that's a great idea too, if you prefer keyboards. but i despise keyboards. a typewriter guy through and through. it's all about the clickity-clack, the old-school charisma. thanx for commenting !

@lysdexicuss What are the things that hit the comp. keyboard keys?

@fyrefox4289 Yes~ they are called crimps~ used in electrical work to bond grounding wire together. Each typewriter key has a piece of copper wire attached to it that pokes down through a corresponding hole when the key is depressed; the crimp is on the underside of the typewriter table, acting as a false finger-tip~!
