Question to the Knowledgeable:  I was watching Hmong Frog and Tiger cartoon with my daughter last night and noticed a lot of grammatical errors and some curiosities. Regarding Hmong adjectives for the word "qeej" (lusheng), I always thought you would say "lub qeej". However, Mr. Frog kept saying "rab qeej". I thought "rab" is used for objects with handles only? So which is correct?

"Rab" is use when referring to something that you hold.

"Lub" is use when the object has a round shape, hollow...

It's Rab Qeej.

Why is it that for the Hmong in the US women are not allow to play the qeej, but these Miao/Hmong women are playing it. This is very interesting. Thank you, niamtxiv, for posting all these videos up. They are all pieces of the puzzle to better understand Hmong origin.
