The remaining 9 acts performed a new Christmas song "When you Wish Upon A Star" in the advert that'll run right up until the XFactor final week in Dec 2011.
The 9 finalists sang a new christmas song remake of the 1940 song "When You Wish Upon A Star", from Disney cartoon Pinocchio.
Finalists who featured in the song include Craig Colton, Janet Devlin, Marcus Colins, Amelia Lily, Little Mix and Misha Bryan who closes the advert.
As the UK got ready for the Saturday launch of the most eagerly anticipated show of the year, Marks & Spencer (M&S) was delighted to announce that it had secured an exciting agreement to become the exclusive fashion partner of The X Factor 2011.
The deal, with Syco TV, FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) and ITV, saw M&S become the exclusive fashion partner of The X Factor live final weekend at London's Wembley Arena and the fashion section of the official website, www.itv.com/xfactor.
As exclusive fashion partner, M&S' key styles and trends for autumn/winter 2011 were showcased to The X Factor viewers through a permanent presence on the show's homepage. Users were also able to access bespoke footage via an M&S branded video player which will be available when the first live show airs in October.
Under the partnership, M&S customers also had the chance to be part of The X Factor excitement, as the retailer received tickets for the breathtaking, celebrity-filled Saturday and Sunday evening live shows at Wembley Arena.
The tickets were also up for grabs via customer and employee competitions that were promoted via multiple channels including online, social networking, direct marketing, CRM and in-store activity.
Finally, M&S partnered the in-show competition for the duration of both The X Factor on ITV1 and The Xtra Factor on ITV2.
Steve Sharp, Executive Director, Marketing at Marks & Spencer, commented, "M&S joining forces with The X Factor makes perfect sense. Styling and fashion is a crucial part of The X Factor journey - for both the contestants and the viewers. So what better partner for the nation's favourite entertainment show than the nation's favourite retailer?
"We're delighted that our customers will have the chance to share in the excitement too with a chance to win tickets to the live finals at Wembley."
Mark Brittain, Head of Commercial, Syco TV, said, "It is very exciting to have such a strong brand like M&S joining forces with us to shine the spotlight on the new generation of The X Factor. With two such evolving and fresh brands the fashion partnership with M&S is ideal."
Mark Rosenegk, VP Brand Partnerships UK at FME added, "The ideas that M&S came to us with were really compelling and a great fit for The X Factor brand. They're an ideal fashion partner and we're looking forward to working with them over the next four months."
Kate Glover, Account Sales Manager, ITV, said, "It's great to have M&S on board and we're really excited be working with them again."
The X Factor is one of the most-watched entertainment programmes in the UK. Airing on ITV, the UK's largest commercial broadcaster, The X Factor was created by Simon Cowell and is owned and co-produced by Syco TV (a joint venture between Simon Cowell and Sony Music Entertainment) and talkbackTHAMES (a FremantleMedia company). The official X Factor website, www.itv.com/xfactor, is produced by talkbackTHAMES digital with ITV and is the online home for The X Factor 2011. TalkTalk is the broadcast sponsor of The X Factor and lead sponsor of the live finals at Wembley Arena.
The X Factor finalists joined forces for a special cause; Rose Royce's 'Wishing on a Star' takes on a magical revival in aid of Together for Short Lives, formerly called Act & Children's Hospices UK.
'Wishing on a Star' features on the 2011 M&S Christmas advert, embodying the spirit of the festive season with a rich feeling of hope resonating from the 16 X Factor finalists for the chance to make a difference to people's lives.
Working to ensure that every one of the 23,500 children and young people unlikely to reach adulthood receive the best possible care and support, along with their families, Together for Short Lives is a voice for those who need it, for as long as they need it.

I love the red-head girls voice... I don't watch X factor so only found out about her because of he advert. I don't know why but when she sings 'desires' there is something really pleasant about the sound. I hope she makes some music :)
