TEITO MONOGATARI (帝都物語) Manga Adaptation Part 1

This is it folks...the first part of the official manga adaptation of TEITO MONOGATARI (aka DOOMED MEGALOPOLIS aka TOKYO: THE LAST MEGALOPOLIS)! It was released somewhere around the 90's and covers the same story as the anime and first live action movie.

I'm not a fan of watching a slideshow of scanned pages, so I cut out each panel and added music from the soundtrack of the anime and the live action film to make the experience a little more cinematic. I'm sorry if the panels move a bit too fast or too slow--I was trying to adjust the speed based on what's happening in them. I hope you enjoy these additions.

I will upload more parts as I process them.

NOTE: I do not have translations for the dialogue as this has not been officially released in the West. Also, this is the Hong Kong version of the manga, meaning that the dialogue here is all in Chinese, not Japanese. If you've seen the anime or watched the live action film, you should have a basic understanding of the story.
NOTE: I will add annotations for names of characters.

I added a couple more small translations using OCR and a couple of internet translators. Obviously they aren't very good and I'm skeptical if I got the meaning right or not. If I was really unsure of a phrase, I put down (???) to show it.

Any Chinese readers out there...your input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! Even though this takes longer, I still like adding these enhancements. Like I said in the description, I hate it when people just play a bland slideshow of scanned pages on Youtube without any accompaniment. I think videos should provide audio as well as visual stimulation

Yeah, if I could read Chinese or if OCR wasn't such a hassle to deal with, I would provide translations throughout the whole video. Alas...maybe in time...

I think you did a very good job putting this video together. For me, the pictures move at just the right pace. Even though I can't read the text, I do like to look at the actual pictures themselves (taking an Asian art history course will do that to you). I'd keep it at one panel per page, because otherwise things might look crammed.

You're right! Like I said before, Kato is a clever bastard...

This actually makes him even more despicable (I think) because it means he's betraying the trust of a family who consider him a friend.

BTW, can you please give me some feedback on how I put this together? Are the pictures moving too slow for those who can't read the text? Should I speed them up or put in two panels per page? I'm getting ready to do the next part, so I'd like to know what changes to make.

A date?! Oh man, that is too good! I was not expecting that!

After watching Doomed Megalopolis, it's difficult to imagine Kato spending his time doing anything normal and not utterly sinister. Although, it makes sense for him to pretend to be interested in Yukari so he could use her for his own goals.

My contact in Japan told me that they're actually going on a DATE in that scene!! Kato actually took her out to see a Kabuki play!

I lol'd at Yukari thinking Kato was handsome and then following him around in the next few scenes. Villains are always creepier when they pretend to be nice.
