An unique rendition of Amazing Grace at the 2009 Lowell Folk Festival. A Tuvan throat singer, here singing alone, but part of a larger group, Alash, gives his version of Amazing Grace, and the blues and gospel singers join him. Pretty impressive. The throat singer actually picked up the Amazing Grace melody from hearing the group do it right before him. The voice is amazing as it sounds like two instruments playing at once. http://www.alashensemble.com/
Love tuvan throat singing, and this was extra incredible.

What I think is great about this is that you have people from all over the world, be they southern gospel singers to tuvan throat singers to country singers, they come together and make music, they probably never even practiced together but they could feel it from their hearts so they all joined in... they all made music... they all brought the world just that much closer together. And that it is why I think this is so amazing!

A unique moment in folk cross-culturalism; it felt like a privilege to be there. Thanks for capturing it.

Alash was one of the greatest acts this year, the kid to the right said they had to travel 12 hours just to reach an airport from the republic of Tuva. Impressive stuff!
