I haven't watched the video yet, but I am going to.
To the commenter who asked, who was brought up without religion. That would be me. I probably went to Sunday school 4 times. My family was very dysfunctional, alcoholics. My mom would hide when the jehovah witnesses came to the door. Funny, now she's religious since she quit drinking around 1974....

Well done. Enjoyed the first one also. I wish you (and so many other atheists) would speak up or at least acknowledge that not all of us come from x~tian backgrounds. When I'm gathering info, I'd like more about atheism instead of anti-christian.
Some of us have to argue with family members who are "other". Who besides the Friendly Atheist came from a nonchristian background?
--Thanks.

Ditto ★★★★★
i disagree with you when it comes to the military. they use tactics of coercive persuasion to control those aspects of your mind that they need to control, methods similar to brainwashing / mind control, and thats not good for a free-thinking mind. it might increase happiness because it decreases your everyday choices and freedom, but getting married does the same, you dont need to get brainwashed by the military and ordered around for that.

kurtilein3 I don't understand what part we don't agree on. I agree with all that. Of course, there are logical purposes for certain kinds of limitation of freedom, but religion doesn't provide any logic. That'd be the big difference, I guess.

im not arguing for religion ;)
im just arguing against the military, you said that everyone should consider joining it for a while because its a great experience, this is where i disagree. noone should join the military. especially not in the united states, your gouvernment uses the military almost exclusively for deeply immoral activities, if you join such a military you automatically have blood on your hands and contribute to the destabilisation of global politics.

Well I agree that NOW is not the time to join the US military at all. I joined during peacetime, but I was too young to understand that war isn't my goal in life. So I was all stoked to go to Desert Shield and Desert Storm. I had CNN at the time, so eventually I changed my mind about the military. Anytime a war is on, avoid the military. You're totally right about that. During peacetime, it does SO much more good. Bush and his war machine are the problem, not the average American.
