  • a1drifter is right the kicks are pressing kicks he should have known this surely as he was an itf master before he formed gtf,i have a vid of me doing po-eun somewhere i will find it and post it here if its ok with you gizmo

  • No problem at all, do it if you wish so. I personally feel that it's just a certain variation of Po-Eun typical for GM Park - patterns do change from time to time, and watching TKD Tuls performed by different masters over the years shows many differences (BTW I do a low section kick there in Po-Eun as well ;-)

  • @caribbeanpriceclub Your history is off. Gen. Choi left Korea in 1972 because of friction between him and President Park. He did not go to north Korea until 1980. The WTF was formed in 1973.

  • @caribbeanpriceclub , But all systems of TKD have one thing in common,,,,"BASICS" doesn't matter if it's ITF<WTF

  • @phish6 Gen Choi went into exile in Canada he was never kicked, out of tkd. How could that happen? He was founder of tkd. He was exiled because he wanted to spread tkd to North Korea. ITF was founded by Gen Choi in 1966. WTF was established by South Korean govt. in 1977 as a rival organization. WTF techniques are very different from ITF techniques. That is not a critique, just a fact. The bouncing, "sine wave", seen above is the most obvious difference. Po Eun uses pressing kicks

  • @GizmoTKD ive noticed different masters have a tendency to change techniques as well. sometimes because they forget, so they decide to take it upon themselves to change it. for instance gae baek- where i go, the X arm block is above the head, the twist kick is more exaggerated, and you turn to the left for the scooping block. and instead of just one side kick at the beginning, its a low middle high. and we dont do sine wave :P

  • I dont claim to be an expert on TKD, and I have done a lot of research years ago, and one thing that is common is there are many versions of how TKD came about. Most wont even mention Choi getting booted out for taking TKD to North Korea. As I stated this is what I believe had happend and can not find any supported facts to it. TKD did not have the bouncing bit during my intructors' instructor training in Korea with Mr. Park. But I have seen clips of Choi doing it years later.

  • you need to do some research on tkd history my friend

  • ok i just did po eun.. im not bouncing..so i am not going to start now, although it looks awesome when an expert does it..

  • long ago when Tae KWon Do was pieced together there was no "bouncing". I think after Choi was kicked out and moved to Canada (I think) and started WTF, sometime after that the bouncing got put in. I don't know if that came from him or someone else he worked with.

My instructors' instructor got his rank in Korea from a Master Park, so proudly I am only 5th generation from Choi and about a million light years away from as far as skill. I have a few video's in my name here to check out if youlike

  • @phish6 i loved watching this vid.. awesome.. but are we supposed to bounce or not????

  • fuk u
