School going girls living in poverty may soon have a reason to smile. Recyclable sanitary towels are set to be introduced. However, girls in Siaya are way ahead. They have been sewing away daily making pads that they can re-use for six months, and as Martina Akinyi reports, this is having a positive impact on their education.

I just keep on wondering when will we Kenyans cease the ethnicity talk? Cant we live without this business of Kikuyus, Luos, Kalenjins, Kambas etc? It is a reality that everyone of us is in a certain ethnic group, but must we use this to segregate others? Must we invoke ethnicity in any issue? When will we learn to live as one Nation? I wish a law was passed to criminalise ethnicity! We should create laws banning ethnic talk just like what the Rwandese have done!
