  • Can you explain the potentiometer? To increase speed are you reducing or increasing resistance? Is there any relational charts that show how an adjustment affects things? Resistance...coil windings... and the like?

  • @mattyj47 There probably are some charts somewhere on the yahoo groups. The pot adjusts the trigger which is adjusted for power to the gates (bases) of the transistors. This is the most significant part of the tuning of this machine. There are many resistors in this basic configuration that can be substituted. Speed is affected by adjustments, also charging rate and torque.

  • How are you measuring amps using a shunt? That must be some massive pot to handle that resistance. I always found the pots burnt out the carbon type.

  • @marthale7 Yes, 30A meter with shunt. It is a 125 or 150 ohms 50W pot I believe.

  • Quite the setup Rick!

  • your comments are answered elsewhere, and have been for quite a few years now.

i wish you well on your learning

  • @User2718218

    You are a genius

    LOL

  • In this configuration, would one have to have two sets of 2000AH batteries for a residential installation? Take one set off-line (not connected to house) for charging, while other set, previously charged, powers house. When batteries with house load reach predetermined state of discharge, alternate, never charging battery set under load. Is this correct understanding? Thank you!

  • the one you gave me is 11mH its for the SSG, unknown to me is the best coil

    I made 2 one with single 1400' #23 1.125 (core) id x 4.5od x 1.125 wide it's 349 mH and 406mH.

More of a rectangle shape with thin metal rolled (core)instead of pins. it has a lot of kickback. it welds the screwdriver at 60+ volts with large cap.Shorter and fatter. You ever try different coil shapes?
