THIS VIDEO was made for a friend who ALREADY KNOWS HOW TO CROCHET. I am not teaching beginners to crochet. In fact, my goal with this was simply to SHOW A FRIEND how I make a hat.

IF THIS VIDEO IS TOO FAST FOR YOU, then you should find a video which slowly teaches you the basics of crocheting. PLEASE STOP PESTERING ME TO SLOW DOWN.

Any other questions are welcome.

  • what size hook do you use?

  • For hats? Usually an H.

  • I noticed you lose hold of the yarn a few times during this video and thought I'd leave a comment~

You shouldn't work the needle around as much as you do; in fact, it should be held with the hook down and fairly still~ My oma showed me that way, and it works a lot better! It's how they taught it in school back in the 40s~ XD Hope it helps!!

  • Heh, it's moving around so much because of the angle I'm holding the project at. I'm doing it with my arms wrapped around my camera & tripod ... it doesn't move that much when I'm crocheting normally.

    Thanks anyway!

  • I just want to say THANK YOU for this video. I'm a beginner, and I thought you worked at a great pace and explained things thoroughly. This was probably the 10th video I've watched and the 20th pattern I've tried... and finally, SUCCESS! I can't believe people actually complain about this...
