Hey I am fairly new to climbing. I usually use both sides of the rope when I climb I want to use only 1 but at 1:36 how do you get the rope back down
laboy12321 11 months ago
@laboy12321 Most folks will tie the other side of the rope to the ground in some way, but if you want to ascend on a running 8, you can get it down by doing the following: 1) Girth hitch a sling to your harness tie in points 2) ascend to the running 8 on the limb 3) Attach the sling to the loop of the running 8 with a carabiner 4) switch to rappel. As you descend the sling will come tight and draw the knot down with you. This is rough on the tree branch, so be careful there.

try puttin a bowline on a throw ball...and pull it through a tight crotch...hahaha..not gonna happen..

@hawrivermetal We try not to be in a position to have pull a throwbag back through a crotch. If the toss isn't in the right spot, we'll pluck, lower, untie the bag and pull the zing-it back alone. It's less frustrating, we do less damage to the tree, and lose fewer bags that way.

@CornellTreeClimbing .....no offense on my other post...once i throw a line through a crotch...i go about 7 or 8 inches on throw line....tie a bowline to it ....then make 4 or 5 loops up to the end.. of the throw line...that way there is no way it can get hung up....even in the titest crotch........works for me but i do line clearence tree work ...so i gotta find the best and safest spot to get too.....peace

@hawrivermetal Ah, I get what you mean. Line work is scary - we don't go anywhere near electricity...
