President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden join with Eli Manning, Jeremy Lin, Jimmy Rollins, Evan Longoria, David Beckham, Joe Torre and Andy Katz in this PSA to raise awareness about dating violence. Despite the significant progress made in reducing violence against women, young women continue to face the highest rates of dating violence and sexual assault. In the last year, one in 10 teens has reported being physically hurt on purpose by a boyfriend or girlfriend. One in five young women has been sexually assaulted while in college. In response to these alarming statistics, Vice President Biden launched the 1is2many campaign last year. This campaign focuses his longstanding commitment to reducing violence against women specifically on teens and young women ages 16-24. A campaign to stop all violence doesn't fit the agenda of "men cause all domestic violence." That would be like a politician running on men's issues and promising to to improve the lives of males. Ain't gonna happen.

Yes they are. FBI statistics show that roughly 30% of all domestic violence cases involve the man being the violent one. A second 30% involve the woman being the violent one. The remaining 40% is what law enforcement calls "mutual combat." That is, they both are going at each other. PSAs like this make it sound like men are responsible for 95% of domestic violence cases. Sorry, but it's about 50-50. That's not widely publicized because it doesn't fit the agenda.

Women are weak and helpless. Got it. Thanks Obama. Silly me, I thought they wanted to be treated with respect and dignity equal to men. Hopefully he will pass a law that all women should go back to the kitchen where its safe for them.
