Ed Robertson of TV Confidential (www.tvconfidential.net) joins host Brendan Moran in welcoming actress Kathy Garver and writer/producer Rita Lakin as they remember "Family Affair" on Retro Night, the weekly salute to classic television shown Sundays at 8pm on KOFY TV20 in San Francisco (www.kofytv.com). In this segment, Kathy talks about how Family Affair as originally conceived was somewhat different than the show we have since come to know and love, and how that was reflected in the show's original 9:30pm time slot (a late hour for young children). Our thanks to KOFY for the use of this segment.
A lot of young boys in the late 1960s/early 1970s definitely thought Kathy Garver (Cissy Davis) was a hot teenager. Her Cissy character showed a maturity beyond her years.

My former girlfriend Kristen still has her Mrs. Beasley doll she got on her birthday back in April, 1970.

Sadly, "Family Affair" lost Brian Keith (Uncle Bill) Sebastian Cabot(Giles French), Anissa Jones(Buffy Davis), and Gregg Fedderson (he was the son of producer Don Fedderson and played Cissy's boyfriend Gregg Bartlett) all too soon. We also lost John Williams (who played Giles French's brother Nigel while Cabot was away), Heather Angel (Miss Faversham), and Nancy Walker (Emily) as well.
