"Live" footage from an operating session on Jeff Abbott's N scale Southern Pacific Cascade Subdivision recorded on May 15, 2010. Jeff's layout is based on the Southern Pacific's Cascade Subdivision between Eugene and Cascade Summit, OR, set in 1978. The layout features an operational Centralized Traffic Control(CTC) system, complete with operating signals and a remote Train Dispatcher. Track work includes Micro Engineering code 55 and 40 flex track with hand laid turnouts. Control is Digitrax DCC. We had five trains and a local running. Towards the end of the session, we did a test run with helpers. I brought down some cars with body mounted couplers and built a new head end for a train. What was later determined to be a loose output wire on the DCC booster gave us some fits during the test. We put the durability of body mounted couplers to the test with some severe, but unintentional slack action without any problems. The footage is a little shaky, with the height of Jeff's layout, my tripod created a great view of the fascia... I'll have to make an extension pole for next time...

Special thanks to Jeff and his team for hosting a great ops session.
