Dec 19, 2011 Dispute over Falkland Islands on rise

In his recent election manifesto, British Dr. Barry Elsby toughened the Islands´ position and took it to a whole different level. "As we are always being told there is much quiet diplomacy going on behind the scenes but I do not believe this will have much effect on Argentina. We are now in a war of attrition and need to take the war to the enemy", elected member of Malvinas´ Legislative Assembly stated.

Mr. Elsby also made reference to Uruguay´s recent decision to ban docking of Malvinas-flagged ships in Uruguayan ports: "We are already under an effective sea-blockade but with the 30th anniversary of the conflict next year, I think things will get worse. We must actively prepare for this in order to protect our tourist and oil industries and our own freedom to travel. We can´t let Argentina win".

When speaking in English, you should use the English language name for the islands (Falklands).

There is no such thing as the 'Malvinas Legislative Assembly' its official name is the 'Legislative Assembly of the Falkland Islands'.
