This 30-second PSA created by Bahrain Young Ladies Association (BYLASS),
uses a narration to promote the services of Aisha Yateem Family Counselling Centre in Hamad Town to women and their families. The PSA presents images of key services the center offers: Social Guidance, Psychological Guidance, Legal Counseling and Training and Development, accompanied by images of each of these services. The image of social guidance depicts a counselor handing a toy to a boy who is sitting on his mothers lap in a clinical setting. The image of psychological counseling pictures a female counselor consoling a female patient by patting her hand. The image legal counseling is that of a legal counselor signing a document. And the image of training and development depicts a woman at work in a computer lap with the Aisha Yateem Family Center web site visible over her shoulder. The narration offers more information about each service such as the fact that legal services are offered to women under complete confidentiality. The final image pictures the front of the front of the center itself with instructions to call or to visit. The PSA ends with an address, phone number and the Aisha Yateem slogan - 12 Years of Continuous Giving. The PSA aims to increase visitors and the number of referrals to their center.

Background:

From April 12 May 3, 2009, Alison Fast & Chandler Griffin of Barefoot Workshops led a three-week program in Manama, teaching Bahraini organizations how to write, shoot, produce, and edit Public Service Announcements (PSAs) to raise awareness about important social issues. Nine PSAs were produced on such topics as: womens access to IT, women participation in the 2010 national elections, domestic abuse, illiteracy, and youth empowerment.

The aim of the workshop was to foster greater civic participation, activism and debate by teaching civil society organizations how to create messages that can improve their societies from within. This program was funded by the United States Government Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI).
