Religion has done NOTHING for our development as a civilisation other than to herd us like sheep into one cult or another but we would have developed either way with or without it.

- religion has done bad this is not disputed (of course by your statement that we created it then its our own fault anyway, regardless)

-religion has also done good and this cannot be disputed and is evidential throughout history

-advances in religion have spurred advances in civilisation and the creation of modern value structures.

-the dark ages were caused by the fall of one empire not by christianity directly.

@Skindoggiedog modern civilisation stems from the thousands of years of organised religion. whether created by humans or not, your so naive in downplaying the incredibly important and vital role that religion has played, get off your high horse and read some history.

@eikons and I'm not saying that people don't make religion, i don't see how your point doesn't still support my argument, religion has been massively successful in bringing about modern culture, and i am not for the last bloody time, saying that religion has had no wrongs to it, you really need to let go of that bone, I'm saying it has done something and you simply can't deny that its intrinsically linked with human culture.
