Random riffing and soloing with Engl Powerball 100w tube amp.

Battle of the Balls part 2: Engl Fireball
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-_1OuFUPGk

Other stuff used:
PRS SE Singlecut /w Lundgren M6 bridge pickup
Mesa Boogie 4x12 Rectifier
Shure SM57
Ibanez Soundtank Echomachine

I am aware of how a hard mp3 compression can destroy all characteristics from any sound. This video really just a demonstration of me having too much money.

  • Winner is : Fireball!!!!

  • Yes, but Tech 21 TM10 won the finals.

  • Hey if I want to play just straight brutal technical death metal, which one should I invest in; a Powerball or a Fireball?

  • Savage.

  • hey man, that was on the low gain channel or the high gain channel?

  • High gain.

  • @PrsFenderJackson1980 All of them pretty much. I'd say Dimarzio pups into any of them except the Thunder and Gigmaster would get you there easily.

  • @KissMeImPunk Well maybe jus a slight bight more, they are very similar tubes

  • @jaki54321 Don't the 6L6s give off a more..saturated tone though?

  • Which Engl can handle progressive rock, instruemental rock, and something just short of heavy metal?

  • @KissMeImPunk Also it would probably be quite loud as well. 100W of tube amplification is really really loud. And that raider has 100W of tube power. the only real difference between the power/fireball that i see is that the combo uses 5881 power tubes, while the Balls use 6L6GC. But the difference between them is jus a tinkle. Almost the same tube. maybe a lil break up difference but it is a combo, faster breakup may be better. idk. But it will be a loud combo. Only 1 speaker tho. Good one too

  • @KissMeImPunk You and me both... I own a Spider 3. Its nice. But not good for gigs. its not a transistor amp tho its a Digital amp... Transistor amps are like Solid state amps. The spider 3 is DSP based. Sure it probably has transistors, but its DSP based. Anyway sorry bout tat xD The raider would be like The Powerball. They are Pretty much the same. The lead channel 2 on the powerball sounds like the Fireballs Lead channel. So the Raider would probably be a Combo version of the Powerball.

  • @jaki54321 So..the Raider will sound just like the Fireball? I just need something that'll sound like it and be just loud enough for practice and gigs when I get the opportunities. Right now I'm stuck with a Line 6 and it's alright, but you know how transistor amps are..

  • @KissMeImPunk Well if you want the best combo, the Raider is 100W of tube power, with 1 Vintage 30 speaker. People consider it a Powerball in a combo amp. its 2K. The screamer is about $1400, and the Thunder Drive is about $1100(with built in reverb its $1300). On musicians friend you can find the Thunder amps used as well for cheaper prices. If you want a combo, the Raider will be your best choice for quality probably, but for price, the Thunder will be. All great amps!

  • @jaki54321 The question though is, what are the price ranges for the combos and do they give out the same saturated distortion like the heads? And will they be loud enough?

  • @KissMeImPunk They do have combo's. Try the Screamer and thunder combo, also the Raiser. Engl sells VERY high quality amps. You get what you pay for with Amps, and with Engl you cant go wrong. For the Fireball/Powerball they use 6L6GC power tubes with ECC83(12AX7) preamp tubes. They do have a new line of Gigmaster amps which are mini amp heads.
